About Me

Donald Odom III is a New York-based documentary photographer with extensive experience in capturing political campaigns, government affairs, international issues, and social movements.

Throughout his career, Donald has served as the official photographer for several political campaigns, documenting a diverse range of events from large victory rallies to the intimate, reflective moments of nearly a dozen campaigns for public office.

Internationally, his photographic work has included documenting youth homes in South Africa and specialized schools for visually impaired children in remote communities in Northeastern Zambia. His work in Africa has amplified the voices of marginalized children, providing the institutions responsible for their care with essential materials for fundraising and continued operations. He takes great pride in contributing to their ongoing success.

Donald’s photographic style can be described as both polished and, at times, highly abstract. Reflecting the duality of our mortal lives, his work is often chaotic when capturing life in New York City, while it becomes meticulously manicured when documenting the pristine, untouched corners of Africa.

In organizing his documentary archives, Donald has chosen to categorize his work by both the years in which it was produced and geographical locations, specifically countries. The only exceptions to this structure are his work in government and politics, which is kept in a separate archive, and selected work with curated galleries including "People," which is a collection of posed and candid portraits from around the globe, showcasing the humanity and resilience of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Presently, he also serves as a communications consultant for a non-profit organization in New York State. This organization operates international youth study tours for disadvantaged youth and advocates for various initiatives overseas that enhance the lives of individuals in underprivileged communities.
